Over the past two weeks, I’ve been learning a bit about Enamelled Spiders, which are part of the Orb Weaver family.

We have a lot of them in our garden, and although they’re said to hunt mostly at night and hide away during the day, a lot of the ones where we live don’t seem to be phased by being out during the day. So I’ve been able to get some photos of them catching prey and fixing their webs.

One thing I noticed while taking photos of individual spiders is some have plain green on their backs, and some have patterns of green white black and brown. Originally I thought maybe one was male and one female, but it seems they’re just different types of the same species.
